1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how TeacherWave ("TeacherWave", "the Platform", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the TeacherWave website, platform, and related services.

This Cookie Policy should be read together with the TeacherWave Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on a device when a user visits a website or uses an online service. Similar technologies may include local storage, scripts, and tokens used to operate websites, apps, and online platforms.

Cookies may be session cookies, which expire when the browser is closed, or persistent cookies, which remain for a set period or until deleted.

3. How We Use Cookies

TeacherWave uses cookies and similar technologies only for purposes that are necessary to operate the Platform and keep it secure. We use them to:

  • operate essential platform functions;
  • keep users logged in;
  • protect accounts and platform security;
  • support subscriptions, payments, and checkout;
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and suspicious activity;
  • remember preferences such as language, region, and display settings;
  • store your cookie choices;
  • understand how the Platform is used — including through Google Analytics, and through Microsoft Clarity, which produces heatmaps and session replays — so we can improve it;
  • measure the performance of our advertising — for example, to see whether a visit that began with one of our ads led to a sign-up.

The last two purposes — analytics and advertising measurement — are non-essential. Where required by law they are used only after you consent, and the advertising measurement uses third-party technologies described in section 5. Everything else is essential or remembers a preference. TeacherWave does not use email open or click tracking for marketing.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

TeacherWave uses only the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

Essential cookies. These are needed for the Platform to work. They may support login sessions, account security, checkout, payment flows, fraud prevention, consent storage, and core platform functionality. The Platform may not work properly without them.

Preference cookies. These remember choices such as language, region, display preferences, saved settings, or cookie choices.

Analytics cookies. TeacherWave uses analytics to understand how the Platform is used — such as which pages or features are used and where errors occur — so we can improve it. Some of this is first-party. We also use two third-party analytics services:

  • Google Analytics, provided by Google, which tells us which pages are visited and how people move between them, together with your IP address, your approximate location derived from it, and details about your browser or device; and
  • Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft, which builds heatmaps and session replays: a reconstruction of how a visit moved through the site — pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and mouse or touch movement — together with your IP address and details about your browser or device.

We use both only to understand and improve the Platform. We do not use either of them to build advertising profiles, and the Google Analytics information is kept separate from our advertising accounts — it is not used to target ads at you. Note that Google appears twice in this policy, for two different purposes: analytics here, and advertising measurement in section 5. Accepting optional cookies covers both.

Clarity is not loaded until you accept optional cookies. Google Analytics behaves like the advertising tags in section 5 instead — in fact Google Analytics and the Google Ads tag are a single Google tag on the page, serving both purposes — and loads in a switched-off state, sending Google nothing unless and until you accept. Clarity, by contrast, is not placed on the page at all unless and until you accept, so before that it records nothing and sends Microsoft nothing. The Reddit Pixel in section 5 is handled the same way, for the same reason. If you later withdraw your consent using the cookie preference tool, Google Analytics is switched back off, and we tell Clarity to stop and to delete the cookies it set. Analytics cookies are non-essential; where required by law they are used only after you consent, and you can change your choice at any time.

Security and fraud-prevention cookies. These help detect suspicious activity, protect accounts, prevent abuse, identify fake accounts, support payment security, and protect the Platform.

Advertising and measurement cookies. TeacherWave advertises on Google, on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and on Reddit, and uses their measurement tags to see how those campaigns perform. These are third-party technologies that can set cookies and send Google, Meta and Reddit information about your visit. They are non-essential; where required by law they load only after you consent, they send nothing to Google, Meta or Reddit before then, and you can change your choice at any time. Section 5 describes them in full.

5. Advertising and Measurement

TeacherWave advertises its service on Google, on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and on Reddit. To understand which of those ads actually bring people to the Platform, our website loads three third-party measurement tags:

  • the Google Ads tag (gtag.js), provided by Google — the same Google tag that provides the Google Analytics measurement described in section 4;
  • the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta; and
  • the Reddit Pixel, provided by Reddit.

When active, these tags may set cookies or use similar identifiers and send Google, Meta and Reddit information about your visit — such as the pages you view on TeacherWave, your IP address, and details about your browser or device. They also report when you complete certain steps, so we can tell which ads lead to real sign-ups: creating an account, booking a trial lesson, and starting a subscription. The Google and Meta tags also report the amount paid for a trial lesson. We do not send any of them your name, email address, or phone number. Where you are signed in, the Reddit Pixel additionally receives your TeacherWave account reference — a random identifier that does not reveal who you are — so that Reddit can recognise the same visit only once and avoid counting it twice. Google, Meta and Reddit may use the information they receive to measure and improve ad campaigns and, depending on your own settings with them, to show you advertising. They act as separate controllers for that processing, under their own privacy and cookie policies.

These tags are blocked until you consent. The Google and Meta tags load in a disabled state on every page and send nothing unless and until you accept optional cookies. The Reddit Pixel works like Microsoft Clarity in section 4 and is stricter still: Reddit offers no disabled mode, so we do not place it on the page at all unless and until you accept — before that it is not loaded and sends Reddit nothing. If you reject, or later withdraw your consent using the cookie preference tool, the Google and Meta tags are switched back off, the Reddit Pixel stops being loaded and the identifier it stored on your device is deleted.

Beyond the above, TeacherWave does not use email open or click tracking for marketing, and does not sell your personal data. If our use of these technologies changes, TeacherWave will update this Cookie Policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent again before the change takes effect.

6. Third-Party Providers

TeacherWave relies on certain service providers that may set or read cookies strictly to deliver and protect the Platform, such as:

  • payments and checkout (for example, Stripe);
  • hosting, security, and cloud infrastructure;
  • classroom, video, communication, or support tools;
  • cookie consent management.

In addition, and only after you accept optional cookies, TeacherWave uses:

  • Google — Google Analytics, for product analytics, as described in section 4;
  • Microsoft — Microsoft Clarity, for product analytics, heatmaps and session replay, as described in section 4; and
  • three advertising-measurement providers, Google (Google Ads tag), Meta (Meta Pixel) and Reddit (Reddit Pixel), as described in section 5. Google is listed twice because it provides two different things, for two different purposes.

These providers act as separate controllers for the data they receive, under their own privacy and cookie policies.

These providers process data under their own privacy and cookie policies where applicable. The exact providers used may change over time as TeacherWave develops the Platform, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

7. Cookie Duration

Cookies may remain on a device for different periods depending on their purpose and provider.

Session cookies usually expire when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies may remain for a fixed period or until deleted by the user. TeacherWave will aim to use cookies for no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Cookie Policy.

8. Managing Cookies

Users may manage cookies through:

  • the TeacherWave cookie preference tool, where available;
  • browser settings;
  • device settings.

You can accept or decline non-essential analytics and advertising cookies, or change your choice at any time, using the cookie preference tool. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect login, checkout, account settings, classroom access, preferences, security, or other platform functionality.

9. Cookie Consent Records

TeacherWave may store your cookie choices and related technical information as a record of your preferences and for compliance. This may include consent status, timestamp, region, device or browser information, and cookie-preference records.

10. Do Not Track and Browser Signals

Some browsers or devices may send "Do Not Track" or similar signals. TeacherWave may respond to legally recognised browser consent or privacy signals where technically available and legally required.

11. Global Users

TeacherWave operates from Greece and may be accessed by users in different countries. Cookie and tracking rules may vary by location. TeacherWave will aim to apply appropriate consent and notice standards based on applicable law, user location, and the cookies or technologies used.

12. Changes to This Cookie Policy

TeacherWave may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including if it introduces any new cookies or technologies. Where changes are material — for example, if any non-essential or tracking cookie is added — TeacherWave will provide notice and, where required by law, seek consent before such cookies are used.
